Welcome to our FAIRYTALE PAINTING EXHIBITION website. The website contains nine largish canvasses by
HAKIM TURDIEV from UZBEKISTAN (former USSR), who took his inspiration from PIM DIJKSTRA from the NETHERLANDS, author of the fairytale "THE YEAR OF THE GREY PANTALOONS".

HAKIM TURDIEV was also inspired by the late mediaeval PAINTER PIETER BREUGHEL THE ELDER,
quotes from whose paintings feature prominently in HAKIM's paintings.

The first exhibition of HAKIM's paintings,
as well as the fairy-tale book containing reproductions of the paintings was called:

" BREUGHEL THE ELDER IN MADELONIA"

and took place on september 19th 1999 at the GALERIE UTRECHT, oudegracht 340, 3511 PM Utrecht, Netherlands
(Website:www.galerie-utrecht.com or emorren@galerie-utrecht.com).
Further exhibitions have been planned in Hamburg, Germany and The Hague, Holland. The first exhibition proved a great succes. The text of the book appears in parallel text in nine languages, i.e. English, Dutch, French, Italian, Spanish, German, Russian, Hebrew and Japanese. It has been published in a limited edition and has sold very well as a collector's item. It is accompanied by an easy-listening CD.

Those interested in future exhibitions may enquire at GALERIE UTRECHT at the above address, or: www.madelonia.nl for a quotation of the costs, wich includes a donation to MÉDECINS SANS FRONTIÈRES.
